Taking a screenshot on the new iPad Pro with Face ID is different than any other iPad. No Home button!
It never ceases to amaze me that taking a screenshot is so incredibly popular. Everyone does it. Whether you're grabbing a screen of your high score, want to share that funny text message thread you had with your mom, or want to ask your uncle Bob why something doesn't work right, taking a screenshot of whatever is on your device is very useful. On the iPad Pro (2018), and any device that has replaced the Home button with Face ID, there's a different method for grabbing that screenshot. Here's how.
How to take a screenshot on the iPad Pro (2018)
- avigate to the screen you want to capture.
- Set up the view exactly the way you want it for the shot.
- Press the Sleep/Wake button on the top of the iPad Pro and the Volume up button on the right side of the iPad Pro at the same time.
The screen will flash white and you will hear the sound of the camera shutter clicking (if your sound is enabled).
The screenshot will appear in the lower-left corner of the screen. Tap it to use Instant Markup to edit it before sharing it with anyone.
How to use Instant Markup for screenshots
You can access a screenshot you've just taken by tapping into it when it appears in the lower-left corner of the screen. This will take you to Instant Markup, which provides a number of tools for quickly editing a screenshot before saving it or sharing it.
You can crop, highlight, and mark up a screenshot. You can also add a signature, magnifier, box, and much more. When you're done, you can send it off to your friend, social media feed, or just save it in your Photo Library for future reference.
How to view and further edit screenshots
Your screenshots will automatically be saved in your Photos app.
- Open the Photos app from your Home screen.
- Tap Albums.

Tap Screenshots.
- Select a screenshot to view or share.

Tap **Edit in the upper-right corner to edit it.
You can also tap the camera icon or use the edit menu in apps like Messages or Mail to insert your screenshot into texts, email, and more.
